While many aspects of this industry is the same as other industries including hospitality, there are some idiosyncrasies which differentiate it from other industries. Not least is the unique characteristics of its products – the heterogeneity, the perishability, the intangibility, the inseparability of production and consumption and last but not least – the interdependence (i.e. that the products tend to be bought in combination with hospitality).
